How do you feel when you purposely set out to go shopping, for hours, and end up purchasing nothing? Is it okay?
This weekend we went to 2 major shopping venues-one of which has my favorite Bloomies- and found nothing. I suppose it would’ve been okay if there was a lot of “eye candy” in the form of interesting items for sale or people to watch, but neither. In fact, it felt the most deserted -people-wise and fashion-wise- than I can remember. Isn’t this supposed to be (the beginnings of) Holiday Season ‘08?
Aren’t likeminded crazy fashion people supposed to be taking in some “retail therapy” right about now?
Do you feel guilty spending with the economic situation being what it is? In talking with some friends today, that is their collective opinion. If no one is buying, it sends out an energy that the next person subconsciously doesn’t buy, and so on and so on. (They’re *energy*/vibe people!) Well, I don’t know about my subsconscious, but I’m usually not swayed by what other people are buying, indirectly or not. In fact, if see many people buying from a particular store or a particular section, or a particular item…that’s a deterant for me.
Crowds or no crowds, I just didn’t see anything that pulled me. In fact, I remember thinking, “why is it that what’s in the stores right now is not similar to what I’m seeing online or in the mags?!” There was NO cohesion. There was no clear inspiration.
Why buy just to buy? ((rhetorical question-at least for me.))
P.S. How FUNNY that the ad running on my page at the time of this writing is for “protecting” and saving marriage and voting Yes on Prop 8; with a big ol’ picture of Palin?!?! I guess they don’t know how GLBT friendly I am! Ahahaha!
