Add to Technorati Favorites new year, new clothes

new to YOU, that is. Now is the time to revamp your closet! Pay attention; these TIPS are good:

TIP: Buy the slim hangers that BBB have online and in their stores. (BB&B accepts ALL coupons, incl. ones from other stores and ones that are expired!!) They come in black and tan. They are cheaper than the huggable ones you must purchase elsewhere but do the same job. Not only will you save closet space, but having uniform hangers puts everything at the same level and perspective. Having different hangers of different sizes and colors is really chaotic when you are trying to decide what to pull & wear. And we all need that process of pulling and wearing as simplified as possible, don’t we?

TIP: This one you already know; make different piles according to what is wearable NOW, what needs repairs, what is okay to be donated, and what items are okay to be used as rags. Be honest! If you can’t part with that college sorority sweatshirt but wouldn’t be caught dead in public with it–Store it! I love Sterilite storage containers b/c they are stackable, some have wheels, and the tops click ‘n lock! When you simplify things and get clearance [or things cleared away], you ready yourself for NEW things. That’s the law of the universe, after all. Don’t be a hoarder.

TIP: Have an area in your closet where you have this season’s pieces ready to wear. You can organize by color or sleeve-length or place outfit items together….however your big heart desires. Store away items that are probably not going to be used until next year or trendy items that may not be worn next year but you want to keep. Just don’t take up the immediate space with these things. BB&B (no, they don’t pay me in any way, though I wish they did…) now have stand-alone collapsable clothes racks that are on wheels and adjust to different lengths and heights. This is perfect if you have space in your closet for it or in your room. I have one that I use for the purpose of hanging “currents” that don’t have room on my traditional closet racks without being totally squished. I got mine from someone off of craigslist.

TIP: Take those several large garbage bags and donate them! Especially if you are out of school and have worked…I bet you wore those items for work, right…and some of it could be considered, therefore, “professional women’s wear”, right? If you do a search for Salvation Army’s tax donation list, it’ll give you a ballpark DOLLAR amount of what you will be able to list on your endoftheyear deductions! Every little bit adds up to a lotta bit! :-)
