I thought I would pass on some information as I know several hip chicks who have read or heard of “Intuitive Eating” by Evelyn Tribole. (Props that she is based in the O.C.) Now, I haven’t read the book but I know the premise and have heard from others who have. [I read a similar book..."The Only Diet There Is" by Sondra Ray.] Anyhoo, we know that hip chicks should develop a healthy mindset with food (and everything). Which includes NOT being overly anxious and super strict with your eating either. (Or being lazy.) (Or jumping on every fad diet that comes around.) (Etc.)
In response to a question about omega fats (my ayuverdic practitioner rec’s flax…), Ms. Tribole said:
“There are two keys. First just like there are several B-vitamins…, there is more than one type of omega-3 fatty acid…..get enough of the right kinds of omega-3’s -especially EPA and DHA, found in fish. Second, eating excess omega-6 fat, the most common poly unsaturated fats eaten in the US, interferes with the benefits of omega-3 fats. The top sources are soybean oil, corn oil and cottonseed oil, which are found in margarine (baaaadddd! hip chicks DO know this), mayonnaise, salad dressings and processed foods, including many vegetarian and “heart-healthy” foods. In practical terms, this means sticking mainly with olive oil as the primary oil.”
