Add to Technorati Favorites fit friday -why diet… *added a fab fit chick who’s fifty!

 …why not?

Because it’s more important than exercising!

Do you exercise to lose weight? Then I’m very curious as to your thoughts on this: CLICK HERE

The subject of exercising has been all over the press this week -i.e. an Oprah email blast and Times mag article.

I’ve discussed this with other educated health and fitness professionals before too; if you had to pick just one, diet or exercise, diet wins out.

I’ve even written here that it is impossible to outexercise your bad eating habits. Not to mention, at what obsessive point do you stop? - Because you won’t get results from exercising an extra hour the next day to make up for your desert the night before?

At what point are you now exercising 3-4hrs a day just to *try* and lose weight?

If anybody watches the “Biggest Loser” T.V. show here in the U.S., you see how they take obese individuals that (**Key**) have never exercised regularly, and put them on an intense, medically supervised diet and exercise plan. They exercise for hours a day. When the show is over, they gain weight back. Maybe not all (beause their eating has changed!) but some because they can’t keep up with that exercise regime.

And at some point the body says, “Plateau”.

Why don’t they do a show for people who need to lose the last 5-10lbs? You know, the ones that already exercise and have for years?! Because it wouldn’t be as successful.

Some people DO get heavier from exercising, without getting into too much detail, because muscle weighs more than fat, and muscle will retain water after exercising. (The latter is the “pumped” effect that you here of guys going into the gym to get before their weekend dates.)

EAT smarter, not train harder!! <- I just thought of that phrase!

So I guess I blew it in the title! But did you know…

Holly Hunter is a FIFTY year old fit chick? Aside from the Madonna-esque arms (which we still have to give her props for) & her trademark lopsided smile that goes with her drawl, she’s beautiful. FABULOUS!!

Oh, and she had twins when she was 47 years old! Day-um!
