…at least that’s what my friend’s email to me said this week. It just sparks the age-old discussion of whether fruit digests properly when eaten with other food types (like starchy carbs).
There’s more: Bloating after eating fruit allegedly will NOT happen if you eat fruit on an empty stomach. Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes - all of these will NOT happen if you eat fruit on an empty stomach.
Another tidbit worth mentioning about this email concerned ANOTHER fruit debate regarding consuming HUGE amounts of organic fruits [& veggies] when fighting cancer and whether it has beneficial effects:
“…Very few live for 5 years under conventional treatments, and most live for only about 2 to 3 years… The conventional treatments don’t make any difference, because most cancer patients also live for about 2 to 3 years without any treatment. It is difficult to cure cancer patients who’ve undergone chemo and radiotherapy, as their cells are toxic and weak. When there is a relapse, the cancer spreads very fast, as the resistance is poor.” -Dr. S. Mak
But wait! Still more:
There’s no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruit becomes alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruit, you have the secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

I don’t think this information is necessarily ground breaking but it’s definitely worth a refresher look: http://www.oprah.com/health/Navigating-the-Grocery-Store/1
My grocery bills aren’t necessarily higher or lower or any different because I choose to eat foods with as little preservation as possible, fruits/veggies/etc that are organic, & we don’t buy “soda pop”, crackers, or meat.

From usmagazine.com’s celebritynews on 3/11: Kendra Wilkinson said post-baby, “Having a different body was such a culture shock. I’m so used to being hot and fit.” Although “it wasn’t that extreme,” the reality star says, “I did go through some depression.”
Seriously?
a “culture” shock?!
And that now she loves her legs and butt but “hates everything else.”
No words.

From yogaworks newsletter 3/10:
During the Months between New Years resolutions and Cupids gone awry, ideas of commitment will often arise. As Yoga practitioners, we can see this not only as a commitment to a significant other, but also as a commitment to our selves, our practice, a higher power, and even the commitment to being a better friend.
The Sutras of Patanjali, although mainly concerned with self-awareness and personal freedom, have significant relevance towards the ideas of improving these relationships.
When we release our ego, we aren’t so reactive, and when we can act from a place of compassion then we are truly practicing Yoga.
The Sutras, particularly the observances or ‘Niyamas’, are tools that enable us to release the ego in order to find peace within ourselves and with others. These are actions and attitudes that we cultivate to break through the illusion of separation, coming to realize that we are all One.
The Niyamas are:
- Sauca (Cleanliness),
- Santosa (Contentment),
- Tapas (Devoted Discipline),
- Svadyaya (Self Study),
- and Isvara Pranidhana (Surrender of ones Self to God).
All of these observances can assist us along the path towards enlightenment, and the practice of Niyamas disciplines us to follow the principles of Yama (Self Restraints).
According to B.K.S. Iyengar,
- Cleanliness leads towards Non-Violence,
- Contentment towards Truthfulness,
- Tapas guides us to not misappropriate another’s wealth.
- Study of Self leads towards Chastity,
- Surrender to God frees one from possessiveness.
By practicing any one of these guidelines, we become more in tune and connected to ourselves which, naturally, helps us to become more aware of those around us. This practice opens up our ability to see things in a more distinct way, and we may notice the positive effects Yoga has on those of us who actually commit to a daily practice. Eventually we experience the benefits that Yoga has on our lives, how it helps on all levels, and the positive repercussions it has on the world.
