…Did you see it?
It was random that I happened to have it on.
I’d love to know what other chicks think/thought.
When I initially saw the title of this book way back when, I thought it was another diet book but tailored to the church-going crowd. I’d heard about people turning to religious groups for the purpose of losing weight with fellow believers and figured this was going to be in the vein.
Wrong!
As Oprah said, this book is very helpful for women who’ve experienced abuse or trauma in their lives, particularly as children.
And perhaps women who have, or still do, endlessly focus on: eating, exercising, or dieting. You don’t have to be overweight to “get it” (=the message).
This is NOT a book for chicks who came from completely functional families, with a super upbringing and supportive parents which included mothers that never had any self-esteem issues or displayed any self-criticism talk themselves (”Do I look fat?” “I need to exercise.” “I shouldn’t have eaten that.”…etc). And it’s also not for anyone who’s NEVER been on a diet. Or if you’ve never struggle with body image issues.
Okay, everyone still here? Good.
Read the book.
