Add to Technorati Favorites Fit Chick THURSDAY - pic of another fabulous fit forty-something and more

Fit chicks, I apologize, but it’s back to intense yoga certification modules and I won’t be able to post starting Friday for a bit.

So instead of “FCF”, it’s “FCT” for this week. I’ll keep adding to this post as the day/weekend goes along as I can

  • She is 43. Yes, FORTY-THREE! And granted, she trains like an Olympian b/c…well…she IS ONE, that bod is age-defying.

  • The other week I posted ideas for creative, healthful salads. How about shakes? Smoothies?

Base: almond milk, rice milk, aloe vera juice, fresh squeezed orange/apple/or carrot, soy milk

Fats: flaxseed or flaxseed oil, handful of nuts, avocado

Fruits: apple, orange, banana, berries, mango, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple

Other: ginger root, kale, spinach, parsley, celery, carrot, cucumber, greek yoghurt, protein powder, spirulina or “green” supplements, green tea powder,

  • Soup from last night:

Lentils (soaked for 24hrs prior & rinsed), sweet potatoe, onion, fresh garlic, cumin (spice), himalayan sea salt - cook for 2+ hrs (ideal for crock pot!) then garnish with fresh tomatoes, lemon juice, & cilantro.

  • Snack from yesterday : apples + PB

  • Everything is energy. Your thoughts are energy. What you constantly think about you draw towards you. Like a vortex.

  • I learned yesterday in training that you should never contract your leg (Quads!) so hard that your heel rises up from the floor during your yoga poses. You’ll hyperextend your knee and set yourself up for knee problems down the line. The trick is to contract, keep it straight, and NOT lock it out. Ouch

  • Speaking of yoga and knees, never go into Ardha Chaundrasana (1/2 moon) from a straight leg posture; either side angle or warrior II are excellent “set ups”.
